Today at work I found out about the suicide of one of my favorite actors, Heath Ledger. The news made me wonder about all suicide victims and what makes them want to kill themselves. My only theory in the case of Heath Ledger is that his relationship with Michelle Williams is now over and he was devastated to the point of suicide. I wonder, if this was the case, why he did not just choose to talk to someone about what he was feeling. I wonder why anyone chooses not to talk about what they are feeling. Does death really seem like a better alternative? In my experience, when you feel like the worst thing to ever happen has happened and you are depressed and angry, there is always someone who is worse off then you are and you are better to look at the bright side of the situation. Obviously when you are depressed there does not seem like a bright side to the situation and death can seem like the only option. I wonder if suicide victims really look at all of the consequences of their actions or just the ones that seem most appealing to them. Heath Ledger has a two year old daughter who now has to grow up with out a father. Did he think about this before hand and decided that the situation would still be better off when he was dead, or did he not think of this at all? I have never been suicidal and therefore cannot comprehend when could be going through someone’s head who is suicidal but I do know that killing yourself never solves anything and I feel sorry for all of the people close to Heath Ledger who now must live on without him.
