Thesis: Buying Smashbox makeup will not only make you look good but it will help the earth as well.
Audience: Female, wears makeup, eco-friendly, wants improve physical appearance.
The argument is made by appealing to your insecurities and saying that if you wear this makeup you will no longer have those physical flaws. The beautiful model that takes up the majority of the page makes the audience think that they too could look like that if they had this particular makeup. The argument is also made by telling the audience that for every purchase they make a tree will be planted in a developing country by a credible organization called Trees for the Future.
I would say that to the target audience for this advertisement that the argument would work. Women can be easily influenced by a model especially when they feel they have flaws to cover up. Someone who wanted to wear makeup but is afraid of the the damaging effects to the environment with the materials used for the packaging or other parts of the makeup would feel better about buying this particular brand because a tree will be planted in its place.
